I was thankful to have spotted the melanoma in my photo early and to have gotten such good medical care. Yet, I was annoyed different dermatologists had concluded the spot on my nose wasn’t anything to worry about.
I also realized that my decision to invest in hair transplantation – which could and perhaps should be viewed as a self-absorbed, vain effort to reverse God-ordained male pattern baldness – had in a unintended, circuitous way prevented a metastasization of melanoma from my shoulder to other organs in my body.
In short, my decision to transplant my hair may have saved my life.
