Sales tax challenges of a telecommuting workforce

by The 100 Companies

With remote work here to stay, one significant challenge facing many businesses with telecommuting employees is sales tax compliance.

Properly computing, collecting and remitting sales tax in multiple states is highly burdensome, and is further complicated by issues such as knowing which form to use, where and when to file and what to include on the tax return.

It is important for businesses to address these challenges by reviewing their multi-jurisdictional sales tax nexus exposure and understanding the taxability of their products and services. This will best ensure compliance with the various state and local filing and remittance obligations.
